This is the banjo as never before—the “Renaissance Banjo” delivering undiscovered sounds within the ancient ‘drum with strings.’ Add magnificent singing to that sound, and a steady hand on a steel string guitar, and the concert is a delight. Solo ConcertsMichael enjoys working alone and has performed literally around the world bringing his engaging humor, and precise musicianship. Miles QuintetMichael works frequently with other players, and has regularly drawn from the tremendous array of Chicago players. Frequent collaborators include Jackie Allen, vocals; Tony Dale, percussion; Hans Sturm & Al Ehrich, double bass; Don Stiernberg, mandolin & fiddle; Jimmy Tomasello, Steve Doyle, Chris Walz, guitar; Geraldo de Oliviera, percussion; William Sims, saxophone Orchestras & String QuartetsMichael has worked with professional and school orchestras, chamber groups, and string quartets. He has a repertoire of his own music, traditional music, popular music and classical music arranged for strings or full orchestral accompaniment. Professional collaborators include the dePasquale String Quartet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
